Joel Kommer has 30 years experience in designing, building and marketing
all types of residential real estate. A Business Administration
graduate from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, he began
his career as an auditor with one of the major New York accounting
firms. In the early 70's he became controller for a New York developer
and that is when his career in building began. To his credit are
numerous single, and multi-family developments in Florida, Tennessee
and Texas comprising hundreds of tract and custom single family
homes along with hundreds of apartments and town homes.
He started Great Southwestern Homes, Inc. in 1988 when he began
building single family homes in a major subdivision in Mount Juliet,
Tennessee. In 1999, he and Adam, his son, saw the opportunities
apparent in focusing on building in-town, high profile, high density
communities to meet the needs of Dallasites seeking to be close
to Dallas amenities and employment centers.
Since entering the in-town market he and Adam have developed a number
of successful town home communities ranging in price from the high
$200's to $1,000,000 and custom single family homes priced well
over $500,000.

After
graduating from Colorado State University, Adam enjoyed living in
Vail, Colorado. He worked on framing crews and in lumberyard sales
where he received hands-on insight into the construction business.
He eventually moved back to the DFW area in 1996 and worked for
large production home and commercial builders as a superintendent,
before joining Great Southwestern Homes.
Adam now manages the construction
supervision for all projects from design to completion.
